In a tacky, trashy display of insensitivity the J&B Met 2015 asked people to “enjoy” today’s annual Cape Town horseracing event following the death of Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere.
J&B Met were slammed with lots of criticism on social media with people showing their dissatisfaction on Twitter following J&B Met’s tweet.
‘Wait. Simba was killed in a car crash going to ORT for the Met and J&B are tweeting this? SHAME ON YOU #JnBMet2015’. While another fan tweeted : Disgusting @JBScotchSA #MadeForTheMix tell people to “enjoy” the J&B Met after death of Simba Mhere:
Following a barrage of criticism on social media over the callous self-promotion after the death of the TV presenter, J&B Met 2015 finally relented with an apology. Saying “We the J&B would like to apologise on the insensitivity of our previous tweet. We are rectifying the situation from our side and once again we sincerely apologise for the remark”.

Several celebrities left the J&B Metearly and several were complete no-shows as news about Mhere’s death spread. He was on his way to the Oliver Thambo International Airport to fly to the event in Cape Town.
The Top Billing crew also left the J&B Met, with Mhere’s death which became the number one topic of conversation under the remaining socialites.
