Pam Andrews has announced her departure from e.tv’s youth soapie Rhythm City.
The actress, who played Gail for the past seven years, will be leaving Rhythm City this year.
Andrews has been part of the cast since 2007 playing the character of Gail October, co-founder and shareholder of Hustle records and office manager.
When asked why she decided to leave she said “Seven is a lucky number and it’s time for me to change, do something else and explore new things. I don’t want to spoil things by staying too long,” said the 30-year-old.
“I have been working on an exciting new project, but all will be revealed in due time,” is all she would say for now.
She said she would miss playing Gail, whom she described as a bitch.
Andrews said some of her highlights on the show included when Gail gave birth to David Genaro’s baby in the bush.
“It was hectic and full of drama and screaming and breathing.
“It was funny because when I gave birth for real it was like one, two, three … hello baby.”
Managing Director of e.tv channels, Monde Twala, explained Pam’s departure and said, “Pam Andrews will be leaving Rhythm City at the end of her current contract as Gail’s role comes to an end. This is part of our ongoing story development aimed at refreshing the daily youth drama.
We thank Pam for being an important part of Rhythm City and for seven terrific years playing Gail. We enjoyed working with her and wish her all the best.”
