Pharrell Williams makes himself very happy by snapping up a stunning ultra sleek and chic Hollywood Hills home for $7m.
According to Variety, the 42-year-old star has secured himself one of Hollywood Hills’ most stylish abodes – and at a discount.
The website reports the Grammy winner dropped $7.14 million on a sleek and ultra stylish compound high above the Sunset Strip in the historically musical area of Laurel Canyon.
And, better yet, the Happy singer got himself a bargain, snapping up the contemporary architectural masterpiece for more than $2 million less than its original asking price.
The home – which was built and lived in by architect Hagy Belzberg – was listed in July for $9.5 million.
It is often joked that Pharrell is an alien thanks to his ability to avoid aging and now he certainly has his space ship in the home called the Skyline Residence, which is filled with futuristic qualities in its steel, concert and glass construction and design elements such as a folded roof.
According to the home’s original listing, the 42-year-old is also securing himself a piece of design history – which no doubt as a fashion designer who pushes the envelope was a selling point.
The listing says: ‘Skyline Residence is a rare example of world class architecture representing one of the most important pieces of contemporary architecture built in LA in the last decade.’
The often celebrated property is in fact two buildings with a main four to five bedroom open plan house and a two story one bedroom guest house.
The gated computed is set on top of 1.5 acres high in the hills that allow for views from every room as well as the numerous outdoor entertainment and viewing platforms.
In the day Pharrell can survey the whole of the northern part of Los Angeles while at night he is offered a visual feast of twinkling city lights.
Also fitting with Pharrell’s focus on eco-friendly design, the house not only embraces the natural environment and views – despite its futuristic appearance – and also was created with an attempt at sustainability using locally-sourced building materials.
