For PJ and Geo Botha, presenters of the popular kyk NET series, Welvaartskeppers (Wealth Creators), Mandela Day held extra significance this year.
Their first book, WORD RYK, BLY RYK, was officially introduced to the public and media during a glamorous event at Pretoria Country Club on July 18, 2023.Choosing to host this special occasion on Mandela Day was a conscious decision. Geo explains: “Our primary goal with this book is to share our knowledge with South Africans. We couldn’t think of a better day for this purpose than Mandela Day. Nelson Mandela himself was a strong advocate for education, and one of his most famous quotes is: ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’. We truly believe that the book can have an impact on readers’ financial future.”The event was attended by 100 guests, primarily consisting of selected business professionals, esteemed clients, and members of the media, including Edgar Rathbone (CEO of the Blue Bulls), Gert Oosthuizen (former Deputy Minister of Sport), and Francois de Wet (CEO and founder of Wamly), among others.”For us, it was a privilege to celebrate this milestone with our clients. Many of them have been with us for a long time, entrusting us to manage their finances. It was an evening where we could share our years of experience and knowledge with them. As a company, it’s also essential for us to give back to the community, not just financially, but also by sharing knowledge, and it was good to share and elaborate more about the projects we are busy with,” the brothers share about their experience of the evening.Satrix also presented on the markets and investment planning, while Melize Botha talked about how Bovest Wealth Management gives back to the community through the Bovest Foundation.According to her, the organization is involved in various upliftment and fundraising projects for causes close to their hearts, as well as helping people develop healthy financial habits. This aligns perfectly with the theme of the book, making the launch an ideal opportunity to share their initiatives.”Bovest is already privileged to employ people in a country with a high unemployment rate.

This gives us the opportunity to create structures and opportunities that provide sustainable solutions and make a positive impact in our community. One of the most valuable commodities is time. We want to use our time and energy to empower and support the less fortunate, to transform their lives and help them reach their full potential. That is the Bovest Foundation’s priority. We believe that every person deserves a second chance in life, and therefore, we have a responsibility to each other and our community,” she said. “The purpose of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action and make a positive impact in their communities and the world, which aligns with our foundation’s mission and vision.”
Since hitting shelves earlier this month, WORD RYK, BLY RYK, has received excellent reviews. Readers are impressed not only with the book’s overall composition but also with its practical content that stretches beyond finances.“What sets this book apart is that it addresses the entire wealth cycle: the first part focuses on how to make more money, ‘Word Ryk’ (become rich). Part two discusses how to manage the money you’ve made, ‘Bly Ryk’ (stay rich), and the last part focuses on money transfer, how to protect your wealth, and life after retirement. So, it doesn’t matter what phase of life you’re in; you’ll be able to relate to a specific part of this workbook and make it your own. It’s also perfect for families to read together and have in their homes,” Geo reveals.Geo is the strategic dreamer, interested in the psychology of decision-making, currently residing in Stellenbosch with his wife and baby boy. PJ is the analytical thinker, focused on the technical aspects of finance, living in Pretoria with his wife and two children.Although they share a television program and business, these two brothers never thought they would write a book together. They acknowledge that it was a challenging and enriching process but are proud of the end result and are eager to share it with people all over the world.
WORD RYK, BLY RYK is now available online and in all good bookstores.
