To be happy in life, you must learn to be grateful and content with what you have and that is what Prophet’s latest single, DANKBAAR EN TEVREDE, is all about.
According to the duo, Koos van der Merwe and Theo Geyser, it is an upbeat Afrikaans folk song about being content. “It gives us perspective. In difficult times, we tend to focus on the negative when there is still so much to be thankful for,” they share.
The music video shows two men playing cards. They are enjoying each other’s company and the game ends with two good hands. Theo was the creative brain behind this interesting concept, which was produced by Charl Folscher and filmed on a farm in Swellendam.

This gospel track, written by Koos himself, comes three months after the successful release of their long-awaited album, Die Kolonie, which reached the number one spot on Apple Music’s Christian charts.
It is an album that tells it like it is and the content ranges between more serious social commentary to happier moments of gratitude and love.Jy Kan Nie Sommer Vir My Sê Nie, the first single, was very well received and the music video already has thousands of hits on YouTube.
Since 1982 Prophet has been shocking and inspiring listeners and hundreds of performances, 10 CDs, two SAMA nominations, and 7 ATKV Lier Awards later, they are still a hit with local audiences.
DANKBAAR EN TEVREDE boasts beautiful lyrics and a catchy tune that stays with you long after hearing it for the first time… just like Prophet has remained popular with their fans over the past few decades.
