REDRESS DESIGN AWARD 2024 ANNOUNCES SEMI-FINALISTS

The world’s leading sustainable fashion design competition welcomes 30 fresh designers

to join the Redress Alumni for career-changing opportunities

[18 April 2024, Hong Kong] – Environmental NGO Redress announces the 30 Semi-finalists of the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, the Redress Design Award 2024, under the support of Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) as the Lead Sponsor. This year, the competition received applications from 55 countries and regions, including new regions, Armenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Montenegro, and Zimbabwe.

The 30 Semi-finalists now stand to become one of the 10 Finalists after shortlisting from an esteemed panel of judges, with results to be announced 9 May. The Finalists win the opportunity to join an expenses-paid, educational bootcamp in Hong Kong, culminating in the Grand Final Fashion Show in September where they will showcase their sustainable collections in front of international media.

Redress is also welcoming its third cohort of Rising Talents, a programme offering in-depth circular fashion training and mentorship to designers who showed exceptional potential in their competition applications.

The Semi-finalists and Rising Talents join the 300-strong Redress Alumni Network, which offers ongoing support to designers as they develop their careers in sustainable fashion. The Alumni Network provides opportunities from retail collaborations to industry and media connections. In 2024, one of the Alumni will win the chance to visit the Delta Global head office in the UK, where they will gain invaluable insight into the development of sustainable packaging for the fashion industry and receive mentorship.

Alumni have gone on to make waves in sustainable fashion, from working with big brands such as Kipling and Timberland, to showing at fashion weeks in Paris, Milan, Shanghai, and Shenzhen; to building their own sustainable brands. Consumers can support small sustainable designers and businesses as a way to promote a circular economy for fashion.
