REPUBLIC RECORDS RELAUNCHES MERCURY RECORDS TYLER ARNOLD TO SERVE AS PRESIDENT & BEN ADELSON AS GENERAL MANAGER Republic Records proudly announces the next generation of Mercury Records. The famed label originally founded by Irving Green in 1945 will now operate as an extension of Republic. Overseeing the relaunched brand is Tyler Arnold, who has been appointed President of Mercury Records based in New York, and Ben Adelson, who has been appointed General Manager out of Los Angeles. Tyler and Ben will both report to Monte and Avery Lipman, Republic Records Co-Founders. Mercury will launch with a new roster including Post Malone, James Bay, Lord Huron, Jeremy Zucker, Chelsea Cutler, and Noah Kahan, as well as emerging talents BoyWithUke, Ka$hdami, Lyn Lapid, Stephen Sanchez, and Camylio. They also have strategic alliances with Nashville’s Big Loud Records (Morgan Wallen, Lily Rose) and Imperial Music (Bo Burnham). Regarding the next chapter of Mercury Records, Republic Records Founder and C.E.O. Monte Lipman commented, “Tyler and Ben‘s accomplishments speak volumes as top A&R executives over the past few years, and the legacy of Mercury Records will be in perfect hands. We are building Mercury to become the modern music label.” Mr. Adelson added, “Tyler and I each began our careers at Republic and have worked together for almost a decade. We’ve leaned on Republic Co-President’sJim Roppo and Wendy Goldstein for their wisdom, perspective, and guidance and hope to bring that same leadership and forward thinking to our roles at Mercury. The path to success looks different for every musician, and Tyler and I are committed to fostering an environment where artists who are uniquely themselves can thrive.” As Executive Vice President of A&R at Republic Records since 2020, Mr. Arnold spearheaded A&R for artists across genres by securing new talent and expanding the legacies of chart-dominating icons. Since joining the company in 2014, he has been responsible for signing and developing Diamond-selling record-breaking artist Post Malone and partnering with super-producer Metro Boomin. He has also signed Clairo, Bo Burnham, Jeremy Zucker, and Chelsea Cutler and led the initiative to team up with Big Loud Records in 2020. A Connecticut native, Mr. Arnold took an internship at Republic Records in January 2014. Five months later, he left Northeastern University to assume a full-time position as an A&R department assistant. 2015 saw him upped to Manager before becoming Vice President in 2017. As Executive Vice President of A&R at Republic Records since 2018, Mr. Adelson has consistently identified, signed, and cultivated marquee talent. Among his signings are multi-platinum Gen-Z pop king Conan Gray,multi-platinum GRAMMY® Award-nominated superstar James Bay, indie stalwart Lord Huron, and platinum upstart Noah Kahan. Mr. Adelson joined the label as an intern in 2007. He was hired as Avery Lipman’s assistant until 2009, and later returned to Republic Records as Director of A&R in 2011. He has risen through the ranks since then, from Senior Director of A&R to Vice President of A&R in 2013 before being promoted to Senior Vice President of A&R in 2015.
