[full]A representative for the actress confirmed Monday that she and the singer are ending their nine-year marriage.
“We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” the entertainers said in a joint statement.
The split comes after Thicke was seen dancing closely with a mystery woman after a performance at Club 79 in Paris in January.
In September last year another woman, Lana Scolaro, claimed Robin had kissed her at a party in New York.
She said: ”I went to the bathroom, and when I came out he was standing there … He turned off the lights so no one could see us, and he started making out with me. He was grabbing me. He was like, ‘I want to get you into bed’ … His hands were everywhere.”
The star was also photographed with his hand on Scolaro’s bottom, reflected in a mirror.
Patton previously said she and Thicke argued, but remained committed to each other. She said: ”Listen, we have fun, but like every couple, we have our ups and downs. Nothing is perfect, but we’re very happy. He’s my best friend.”
Thicke, 36, and Patton, 38, met when they were teenagers. They had a son, Julian Fuego Thicke, in 2010.
Robin Thicke had a breakthrough last year with the international hit Blurred Lines, which was nominated for several Grammy Awards. He caused a sensation with a raunchy MTV Video Music Awards performance last year with Miley Cyrus.
Patton has appeared in the films Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Idlewild, and Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.
Patton also appeared in Thicke’s music videos, including Lost Without U and Love After War.
She was the inspiration behind most of his music, and she appeared on the cover of his 2003 debut, A Beautiful World.
Thicke is the son of actor Alan Thicke of the television series Growing Pains.
Their separation was first reported on People magazine’s website.[/full]
