Critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Ross Learmonth has unveiled his latest single, “Honey,” accompanied by a captivating music video. The track, originally conceived as a brief piece, evolved into a powerful exploration of love, recovery, and the complexities of human emotion. “Honey was originally a very short song about a minute,” Ross shares. “I almost left it like that, but the more I heard it the more it needed the story to play out. It started as a song about longing for lost time and turned into an introspective look at love, recovery, forgiveness and questions why we do the things we do to ourselves and the people we love”.

“This single is very personal to me,” Ross says. “It encapsulated the last few years of my life in recovery and facing my edges and faults.” The track’s emotional depth is enhanced by the delicate balance of soft backing vocals and a compelling outro chorus, brought to life by UK-based producers Chasing Fantasia. When asked what he hopes people will take away from the single, Ross shares that he hopes that listeners will find hope and forgiveness in “Honey,” relating to it in personal and meaningful ways. “It’s a love song first,” says Ross, “and I hope people form new meanings and memories with it.”

The music video for “Honey” was directed by Kirst Dalton, Ross’s partner. “The script was written by my partner Kirst, who understands me probably better than I do myself, so I felt in very good hands with her directing and doing the screenplay.” The video presents a thoughtful perspective on self-forgiveness and understanding, adding another layer of depth to the track. “I love a reveal like an M. Night Shyamalan movie, so that was one of the small inspirations for the video,” Ross shares. The process of putting this together was seamless and couldn’t have been done without the entire production team, including DOPs Dewan and Leon, who brought the concept to life smoothly and effectively.

Ross Learmonth’s “Honey” marks a new direction in his musical journey, combining heartfelt songwriting with an intimate, cinematic experience that resonates on multiple levels. “I’ve always tried to connect with the listener in some way with my writing. To have something truthful and relatable that can be more than just a song, it can be a guiding light for someone or a marker in time for a memory. The main goal is always to resonate with people.”
