ROSS LEARMONTH UNVEILS WES ANDERSON-INSPIRED MUSIC VIDEO FOR HIS SINGLE, ‘ROSE-TINTED’ WITH A POWERFUL MESSAGE ABOUT THE SOCIETAL PURSUIT OF PERFECTION

Renowned singer-songwriter, Ross Learmonth, unveils the official music video for his single, ‘Rose-tinted’ off his solo album, Carousel. The visually captivating production draws inspiration from the cinematic brilliance of Wes Anderson, creating a dual narrative that contrasts a monochromatic ‘real world’ with a beautifully rose-tinted world.

Collaborating with the creative agency MOI (Ministry of Illusion) and cinematographer Willem Viljoen at Ground Fox Studios, Ross was able to bring the concept to life through filming with a green screen. This music video is the latest in a series of collaborations with Willem who filmed the music video for his previous single, ‘Young’ as well as the acoustic version of ‘Rose-tinted’. MOI expresses its excitement about contributing to the music video. “What an amazing privilege to have worked on South Africa’s first AI music video. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everyone to see it. ‘Rose-tinted’ is not only an amazing song, but we believe one of the best music videos out there. We thank Ross for everything and for believing in us to create this masterpiece.”

At the heart of “Rose-tinted” lies a powerful message about self-acceptance and the societal pursuit of an idealized version of oneself. Ross explores the impact of societal expectations, the use of filters, and the rose-tinted lens through which individuals often present their lives on social media. The video thoughtfully delves into the concept of using AI to ‘perfect’ oneself, only to discover that true perfection lies within embracing one’s flaws – a message he is hoping will resonate with audiences out there and use this as a way to highlight mental health awareness.

In Ross’s own words, he shares, “In the pursuit of perfection, whether through filters or rose-tinted glances into our lives, I wanted to play with the idea of getting AI to ‘perfect’ me. Through this process, even though I may look like Ken in parts, the essence of ‘me’ is lost. That’s the message – our perfection may lie within our flaws. Let’s realize that we are enough as we are. Stop the constant comparing, the pursuit for perfection – you truly are perfect the way you are, and it’s what makes you, YOU.”

“Rose Tinted” is not just a song; it’s a visual journey that invites audiences to escape into a world where imperfections are celebrated, and the pursuit of perfection takes a backseat to authenticity.
