[Johannesburg, 21 June] – South Africa’s premier acoustic dance music (ADM) band, Rubber Duc, have dropped their highly anticipated new single, “Summer in the 70’s”. The track captures the vibrant spirit and carefree essence of the 1970s, offering listeners a nostalgic journey back to simpler times.

“Summer in the 70’s” was inspired by a longing for the past and a sense of nostalgia. The band wanted to encapsulate the carefree and joyful moments of summer, painting a picture of fun-filled days, timeless memories, and a sense of freedom and adventure. The song invites listeners to reminisce about the joys and simplicity of past summers, evoking a sense of warmth and happiness. The creation of the single was a collaborative effort with Rubber Duc’s longtime producer, Brendan Ross Campbell, who played a crucial role in shaping the track’s nostalgic vibe.
The band’s current sound can be described as a blend of feel-good pop with a touch of nostalgia. Known for their upbeat, catchy music that resonates with a wide audience, the band continues to create songs that uplift and bring joy to their listeners.
2024 will see the band celebrating 10 years together. They reflect on a decade of music and memories. “This milestone means we’ve been able to connect with our fans and create music that resonates with them over a decade,”. When asked what the key has been to their longevity, the answer was fairly simple – “The key to our longevity lies in our strong bond as a band, our passion for making music, and our ability to adapt and evolve while staying true to our sound. We’ve always strived to stay genuine and keep our fans at the heart of what we do,” shares band member, Amiel.
One standout memory from the past decade is still back when they did their first major performance. “It was a surreal experience realizing the impact our music had on people,” the band recalls. This moment, among others, has reaffirmed their love for music and motivated them to continue creating.
For the rest of the year, fans can expect more exciting music and performances from Rubber Duc. Their upcoming EP will continue the nostalgic theme, blending past influences with their contemporary sound. They are working on tracks that capture different emotions and experiences and are eager to share them with their audience.
