SA-born motivational speaker and author is the only African to publish in a motivational book alongside global authors.
South African motivational speaker, author and youth practitioner Gavin Fortuin has added another accolade to his already impressive repertoire as part of a group of global celebrities to co-author a motivational book.
The 36-year-old founder of Change Agents Developing Youth Leadership (CADY) from Kuilsriver outside Cape Town, joins international celebrity authors Heather Monahan, Les Brown and many others in the newly published book entitled The Power of Mental Wealth compiled by author Johnny Wimbrey and endorsed by New York Bestselling author Bishop T.D Jakes ,CEO TDJ Enterprises.
“My wife has previously met Johnny Wimbrey at one of his training sessions in South Africa. She follows him on social media and stumbled across a post inviting authors to collaborate. Upon a successful entry, I was selected, interviewed and accepted as one of 20 co-authors to be featured in the book”.
”I feel like a kid in a candy store, it’s so surreal being featured with my heroes. My dream has become a reality just to be mentioned alongside the industry giants,” said Gavin.
He is the only African co-author in this American published book project spearheaded by Internationally-acclaimed talk show host, author, and motivational-speaker, Johnny Wimbrey.
“It is a great honour and huge responsibility to represent Africa in this project. My testimony is similar to my fellow African brothers and sisters that do not have a platform to share their story. I have a moral obligation to be the voice to the voiceless and to those that are still battling with various social ills. This project is bigger than myself and has the capacity to bring awareness of one’s greatness within,” he said.
The title of Gavin’s chapter is, Turn Your Pain Into Power where he goes into detail about how everyone possesses powers waiting to be discovered.
“In the book I’ll share three fundamental concepts which have changed and improved every aspect of my life. Fully grasping our identity, purpose, and vision are prerequisites to reaching our full potential. My objective is for this book to be a beacon of hope to the hopeless.”‘
Gavin has a passion for helping others and serves as a consultant to a number of private sector, civil society and government organisations on social development and youth related community issues. He works in the youth and personal development, leadership and the substance abuse arena employing a hands-on approach, adding value in form of motivational speaking engagements, facilitation, personal development workshops, camps, team building activities and hiking nature programs.
He believes the book could play a huge role in self-development, “In the current situation the world has found itself in with mental illness, anxiety, depression, and suicide at an all-time high, this book will empower any reader to break mental chains of self-sabotage. This book will provide you with a blueprint and road map with lessons on mental toughness, increasing joy and self-confidence, learning to see the brilliance of your future, changing perceptions and attitudes, stretching yourself mentally, and developing self-will.”
The book is available at Exclusive Books – Sandton City Mall, Mall of Africa, and Cape Town International Airport. (R467) You can also order the book on Amazon.
