Zulu monarch King Goodwill Zwelithini has married his sixth wife in Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal, the Sunday Times reported.
Zwelithini, 66, married Queen Zola Mafu, 28, in a traditional ceremony on Saturday which was attended by more than 10,000 guests, including President Jacob Zuma and ANC stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
More than 60 cows and scores of sheep were slaughtered for the occasion.
Mafu was selected as the king’s bride at the age of 18 while participating in the 2003 Swazi reed dance, according to the newspaper. At the time, she was a pupil at St Mark’s High School in Mbabane, Swaziland.
Zwelithini had paid lobola of 20 cattle for Mafu, which was nine more than required, eight years ago.

The wedding was expected to enter its second day on Sunday when gifts are exchanged between the groom and bride’s families.
The king will hold a reception later in the day to celebrate not only his wedding, but his birthday which was on July 14.
