Thomas Mlambo and Minnie Dlamini to be sidelined as SABC Sport is headed for major changes in the coming weeks and the public broadcaster is planning to pull the plug on their shows as the show does not generate much income.
According to Sowetan report, Soccerzone is losing its audience and is no longer what it once was despite bringing Dlamini and Mlambo onboard.
Instead, producers decided to redirect the format, making it a highlights only show without presenters.
“The story is Thomas and Minnie Dlamini have failed in terms of improving viewership, but to be fair things have never been the same since Robert Marawa left in 2006…When they hired Thomas, they thought he could steady the whole thing but even his arrival did little to change things around,” a source said.
Apparently even the inclusion of Dlamini could not change viewership figures around since “she doesn’t know anything about football,” the source added.
