TV and radio personality Sammy Sosa‚ has come under fire on social media over controversial comments she made about popular international movement #BlackGirlsRock.
She tweeted on Monday evening to express her thoughts on the popular movement Black Girls Rock‚ suggesting that some girls riding on the fame of the movement were “useless”:
“Some girls are actually super useless. Wow! Like that #BlackGirlsRock thing that trended over the weekend was just abused.”
The Black Girls Rock initiative has showcased some of the most talented and inspirational African-American woman in the world‚ and has spawned a movement that has seen thousands of women take to social media to celebrate the beauty‚ brilliance and power of black women and girls.
People felt insulted by Sammy’s tweet which was generally perceived as an insult to black girls. Even though she immediately removed the tweet but screen-grabs of it has since surfaced resulting in Sammy trending high on the social media platform.
A barrage of abuse was immediately flung at Sammy for her comment‚ mostly questioning her intelligence.
Sammy clapped back by tweeting:
