One of South Africa’s most wanted kingpins was arrested on Thursday after police found him in possession of more than 300 firearms and explosive at his home in Norwood, Johannesburg.
National police commissioner Riah Phiyega was on the scene and said that the man controlled a ““huge syndicate” and was on the police’s most wanted list.
News24 reports that police found R1 rifles, R4 rifles, R5 rifles, AK-47 rifles and about 300 handguns.
Detonators, a machine used to manufacture ammunition, packaged dagga and explosives used for ATM bombings were also found.
The man was arrested along with his daughter and domestic worker.
Phiyega said that police would be investigating the origin of the weapons, their intended use and if any had been used in previous offences.
