SA’s INDIE DOG RELEASES POWERFUL ROCK COVER OF MILEY CYRUS’ “FLOWERS”

SA’s Indie Dog is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single, a rock-driven cover of Miley Cyrus’ hit song “Flowers.” The South African alternative band, known for their electrifying live performances and unique sound, chose to reinterpret “Flowers” due to its compelling message of self-acceptance and empowerment—a theme that resonates strongly with the band members. “The message of turning adversity into strength is something we firmly believe in,” says Seb, Indie Dog’s lead vocalist. “We wanted to take that message and amplify it through our rock style, making it not just something you hear but something you feel.”

The band’s reinterpretation of the song was both organic and high-energy, aligning with their signature style. After experimenting with the song during rehearsals, the band decided to incorporate it into their setlist for a national tour across South Africa. “We played it at every show on our national tour, and the crowds loved it,” recalls Seb. “That’s when we knew it had to be recorded.” The music video, directed and produced by the band, features dancer and actress Alandia van Aswagen, and was filmed and edited by Matthew Levings.

Indie Dog has steadily gained international recognition, with their previous singles receiving radio play in 17 countries, including major stations in the USA, Iceland, and various European nations. Looking ahead, the band have a series of singles lined up for release over the next eight months, as well as plans for an international tour in 2025. They remain committed to solidifying their place in the South African and global music scenes, with a goal of becoming a household name worldwide.
