SA’S KEANAN EKSTEEN DROPS NEW SINGLE, ‘UNDERCOVER’ AHEAD OF EUROPEAN TOUR
(South Africa, 26 July) – Keanan Eksteen is back with his brand new single, ‘UNDERCOVER’ now available on all major streaming platforms. Known for his hit singles “Myself” and “Your Company,” Eksteen takes his music in a fresh and exciting direction with this latest release. Looking to create a song that offered a touch of nostalgia, while remaining modern, Eksteen drew from influences such as Fleetwood Mac and Talking Heads while blending that with his own unique style. “I was looking for something new and upbeat,” Eksteen explains. “I wanted a sound I’ve always envisioned but never pursued before. This song has layers and elements we’ve never explored until now, with fun new instruments, harmonies, and structures.”

Keanan worked closely with longtime producer, Jeremy Farber, at For Tomorrow Studios to bring this vision to life. “The song all started with the bass, I came across this groovy little riff. A groovy riff needs a good drum beat,” Keanan says. “But the real magic came with the ‘shooting star’ melodies we layered on top. It brought the song to life and made it stand out from our previous work.”
Reflecting on his musical growth, Eksteen sees ‘UNDERCOVER’ as a testament to his evolution as an artist. “This song shows how we’ve evolved and explored over time,” he says. “Each song teaches us something new to incorporate into the next one. ‘UNDERCOVER’ is a confident piece of work that shows a real piece of me and my vision.”
The new single drops ahead of his third European tour. “Third tour coming up! I am extremely excited,” Keanan shares. ‘Each tour brings more growth, more experience and gives us the opportunity to really polish our set/craft. I feel the pressure brings us together to bring out the best in us, and that’s always thrilling. Audiences can definitely expect more power, more energy and more passion than last time. Also a few unreleased songs just as a little cherry on top.
Looking to the future, Keanan hints at more exciting projects and releases to follow. “There’s always something cooking in the studio,” he says. “This single has opened up new avenues and broadened our horizons. If the world likes it, they’ll love what’s coming next.”
