Jozi’s power-pop duo Saxby Twins return with an emotional Pop ballad, ‘Run Me Down’.
Since the release of their TikTok breakthrough debut single, ‘Falling For You’, the twins have been hard at work juggling studies, partying and making music whilst living by their personal creed of a ‘no regret’ lifestyle. ‘Run Me Down’ comes straight off the back of these 22-year olds’ recent wave of success.
Written from personal experience, ‘Run Me Down’, is a heartbreak pop ballad that takes you on a journey of emotions that any individual can relate to from experience of a harsh love break-up. It displays strong feelings towards an individual letting go of a past relationship and simply moving on. ‘Run Me Down’ displays moments of heartache and also a sense of freedom with its powerful lyrics and catchy piano melody.
Saxby Twins, aptly named after their surname, began playing music at the age of 17, much in the same way that many singer/songwriters get a break these days – by using YouTube as a creative outlet and recording cover versions of popular songs. With their parents’ encouragement they continued to expand their musical repertoire, eventually leading to original tracks and a record deal with Universal Music Group. After the success of singles such as ‘Spotlight’ and ‘Ooh La La’ featuring Daniel Baron, the twins have admitted having been consumed by music and continue to flex their chops as singers while they perfect their song-writing skills.
Fast-forward to 2022, the twins are hard at work putting the finishing touches to their debut album, amassing a committed fanbase as they grow. Self-quoted as artists who love everything from ‘bouncy dance-pop’ to ‘hip-hop influenced sing-a-longs’ and even piano ballads, it is no wonder Saxby Twins have allowed additional influences to infiltrate their sound as they welcome a faster, more punk-inspired sound. Intentionally free from genres and restrictions, the growth of their careers, much like themselves, is evolving organically and going exactly where their hearts take them.
