The popular and much loved TV personality and SA idol judge is grateful for his struggles and revealed has made him stronger and more appreciative of his present status.

Speaking on 947 recently, Somizi revealed he went through a difficult time between 2006 and 2009 – three years where he was really broke and was desperate to do anything, like tap a girl and even do drugs.

“It was the toughest (time),” he revealed, before explaining that it was down to him being “careless with money.”

“When you’re broke anything goes. Me, during those three years, I would have tapped a girl,” laughed Somizi.

“When you’re broke and you take drugs, you become broker. You know, you become brokest,” Somizi said.

“I know for a fact now, for the past year, I am the biggest personality. I may not be the richest but I’m ranked there,”

Somizi who recently donated his collection of designer suit to matric dance students to support the less privileged children, took to social media on Saturday to encourage people never to stop giving. He wrote:

“I have days like today when I find myself so emotional where I wish we all had food n shelter. Let’s never stop giving where we can”
