South African singer Filipa Carmo da Silva has reached the finals of a singing competition held by celebrity presenter Ryan Seacrest.
The 18-year-old came to the attention of US TV personality and DJ Seacrest with a cover of One Direction’s song Story of my Life.
Even the US Embassy South Africa is rooting for her. Now she is in the final running to take the title of best cover.

Votes are open to crown the best rendition of the boy band’s radio-reigning ballad.
Voting will close on Sunday, February 16. The cover artist who receives the most votes in this round will win the competition.
