Soweto Fashion Week continues to celebrate young talent

Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA – Soweto Fashion Week (SFW) to celebrate and grant young talented designers a platform to showcase their work at the Spring/Summer (SS17) collection showcase. The #SFWSS17 (official hashtag) collections will be presented in the heart of Johannesburg South, at the prestigious Soweto Theatre from 23 – 26 November 2016, showcasing existing and upcoming talented fashion designers, models and brands. Vividly themed “Fashion meets Theatre”, where SFW will not only celebrate talented fashion designers, but artists holistically to create an amazing communal uplifting experience.

The SFW team prides itself in not only granting a platform for designers, but also grooming them to better their business skills to ensure growth for their brands. This season marked the first successful empowerment and development workshops/training sessionsheld to empower both designers and models. The aim for Soweto Fashion Week is to always develop, uplift and empower young upcoming fashion creatives, designers, models, upcoming artists and brands respectively. Soweto Fashion Week has been operating for 5 years and successfully hosting two seasons each year, the Autumn/Winter season and Spring/Summer season.

The SFW sponsors strive to assist the phenomenal communal uplifting organization to continue the impeccable work. Darling Hair continues to be the principal sponsor for Soweto Fashion Week. “The very essence of Darling is transformation which encourages and empowers women to rethink and reinvent the way they express themselves, and so our natural and synergistic alignment with Soweto Fashion Week continues to contribute towards fuelling women’s passion for hair and inspiration for life,” said Pearle Peane, Senior Brand Manager.

The other existing brands/sponsors behind Soweto Fashion Week are Gauteng and Joburg Tourism, Soweto TV and ZeeWorld, and the remarkable first black owned spirit beverage brewed in Soweto, VTK Vodka.

“SFW has grown and continues to grow from strength to strength, we continue to work and stay relevant to the global trends and seasons, so the world can become a proper village for our designers” says SFW Founder and MD, Stephen Manzini.

The endearing initiative and foundation, SFW is scheduled to present the SS17 collections from Wednesday, 23 November to Saturday, 26 November 2016 at Soweto Theatre.
