Standing Strong – amidst the blows

Must read

How do you stand strong when things don’t go your way? When humiliation, loss, crisis, discouragement fear, doubt and disaster comes creeping into your life unannounced and uninvited?

We all have beautiful plans for our lives but more often than not, nothing goes the way we want, we find ourselves operating in crisis mode and sinking in the midst of it all, so much so that we end up thinking God made a mistake when he made creation.

Women are born nurturers and when a nurturer is broken and cannot get back up from life’s challenges we end up with a society of women who are self-destructive which in turn affects our homes and has a rippling effect in the community and the country as a whole; because those that are entrusted with encouraging nourishing and growing others are defective.

Life’s blows are real and that is where we need to start; we need to acknowledge that we are living in a fallen world and not everything will be perfect, no one is perfect and nobody’s life is perfect. The sooner we get out of that bubble the sooner we will be able to face reality and deal with whatever the situation may be at hand.
The most critical aspect of getting back up and rising above the situation at hand is knowing the God that you serve, so much so that when you get into any unpleasant situation you don’t even question Gods supremacy and ability.

David when faced with a terrible loss encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30), we see that he eventually recovers everything and more than what he had lost, and this is what our God wants for us – to be better than we were before the situation sneaked into our lives.

When you know your God, a peace that surpasses all understanding which brings about confidence should reign in your heart and that’s where we find ourselves falling short. This peace is not something that just happens, it is something you work on way before life’s challenges decide to make your home their residence and you do this by submerging yourself in the word of God every day especially when things are going well – He keeps in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon him (Isaiah 26:3)

Let s recap: Standing strong requires
1. Acknowledging the situation
2. Acknowledging and knowing God’s supremacy and ability over your situation
3. Encouraging yourself in the Lord
4. Keeping your mind stayed on the Lord so that peace that surpasses all understanding will reign supreme in your heart.
