Globally, Starbucks is known as The Third Place because it provides that perfect space between home and work. With a brand-new store in the First Place shopping mall on First Avenue, Starbucks South Africa is becoming The Third Place in the culturally diverse and vibrant suburb of Linden.
Though a renowned global brand, Starbucks is passionate about contributing to local growth and connecting neighbourhoods and is proud of the difference the stores make in communities around the country. Born and raised in South Africa, Adrian Maizey, CEO of Rand Capital Coffee, the licensee of Starbucks in South Africa, says everyone the group works with is local. “That includes the people we hire, the ingredients we source, the food we prepare, and our ‘Afri-Can-Do’ attitude. It’s all led to significant job creation and opening of 27 stores in South Africa, despite the crippling pandemic.”
Bassie Manala manages the new Starbucks Linden store. Bassie sailed through her intensive training for this new position and says she and her team of baristas are excited to introduce the unique local Starbucks experience to residents and visitors of Linden. “Please pop in to see our beautiful new store, to make your selection from our delicious new menu – maybe even try something you’ve never tried before. You can take your Starbucks food and beverages away to enjoy in your own homes while these restrictions are in place. And you can rest assured that we stringently apply all Covid-19 safety protocols in our Starbucks stores.”
Starbucks Linden features the full range of Starbucks hot and cold beverages, as well as a selection of delicious treats, including muffins, brownies and macarons. The brand’s wide range of premium coffees, warm and friendly service from the skilled and knowledgeable partners – as Starbucks baristas are called – are all readily accessible at the new convenient location in Linden. Starbucks coffee is 99% ethically sourced and accredited by Conservation International under the C.A.F.E. Practices programme.
Bassie also encourages customers to try the new hot favourites on the Starbucks menu – the indulgently delicious Salted Caramel Latte, crafted from salted caramel-infused milk and espresso shots, and the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, a decadent blend of salted caramel-infused milk and Mocha sauce, topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.
In line with the latest government lockdown guidelines, Starbucks Linden is open for ‘Grab and Go’ takeaways seven days a week.
