Pretoria has its fifth Starbucks, the 25th in South Africa to join iconic locations around the world, courtesy of its newly opened store in Woodlands Mall.

A perfect fit for the trendy, lifestyle-focused community in this leafy suburb of Pretoria East, the new Starbucks store delivers the renowned ‘Third Place’ experience – a place outside of your home or office where the human spirit is nurtured and inspired. The store opened on 21 April 2021, exactly five years to the day that Howard Schultz, global CEO of Starbucks, officially opened the very first store in South Africa, in Rosebank.

Globally, Starbucks is celebrating its historic 50-year milestone and visitors to the new Woodlands store can join in the momentous occasion with a beautiful range of limited-edition commemorative merchandise featuring a golden variation of its iconic Siren logo. And until the 29th of April, Woodlands shoppers can experience the Bubble Pop Frappuccino, a perfect combination of bubble-gum flavour, whipped cream, and popping candy topping – available for a limited time only until 29th April.

“The store was created around elements that will evoke customers’ senses – with ingredients and products to touch, fresh and fabulous aromas, delicious tastes, and a welcoming atmosphere,” says Adrian Maizey, CEO of Rand Capital Coffee, the license holder for Starbucks in South Africa.

Starbucks coffee is 99% ethically sourced and accredited by Conservation International under the C.A.F.E. Practices programme. The coffee, which is organised into three roast profiles – Starbucks® Blonde Roast, medium roast and dark roast – is sourced from coffee farmers in countries spanning the globe. Our coffee buyers personally travel to coffee farms in Latin America, Africa and Asia to select high quality beans. And our master roasters bring out the balance and rich flavour of the beans through the signature Starbucks Roast,” says Teddy Nzama, Starbucks 2019 Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Barista Champion.

The Starbucks Woodlands store is located near Entrance 4. Don’t miss out on a special coffee tasting in the store on Freedom Day, 27 April. Limited spots are available, and bookings can be made by emailing marketing@starbucks.co.za by Sunday, 25 April.
