South African rapper KNO has issued a challenge to celebrities and influencers to use their social media platforms to spark justice in the wake of the shooting of Nathaniel Julius in Eldorado Park.
“I am totally devastated by what has happened to our young brother who has fallen, Nathaniel Julius. I want to send my sincere condolences to his family and his community of Eldorado Park in Johannesburg. I feel that as artists we have a responsibility and I want to start a challenge to all of the influencers, rappers and celebrities, if you have a platform where you can use your voice and be heard you must spark justice for our fallen children. I challenge you to speak out against this matter. Show the world that it’s not only in the United States where these things are happening – it’s happening right here in our communities in South Africa. We’ve been at war. We are at war! This is a crisis we are going through. Now is the time to spark justice and to use your platform to bring change to this shit.”

His new single, ‘Cape Of Good Hope’, tells the story of the gang culture, poverty and racism the community of his youth experienced on a daily basis. Packed full of vivid imagery, emotive lines and a devastating delivery, it also tells the story of all the young children whose lives have been lost to gang violence – either as participants or innocent bystanders. The single’s powerful accompanying video also pays visual tribute to the children KNO saw caught in the cross-fire.
