Get your skin Summer ready

It’s a new year and a fresh start, however the sweltering summer may leave you and your skin feeling a little less than fresh, which is why treating yourself to an ultra-soothing spa treatment at tranquil
Granny Mouse Country House & Spa is just the trick to revitalize your skin with the summer glow it deserve.

Granny Mouse General Manager Sean Granger highlights, “warmer weather plays a crucial role in sapping moisture and leaving the skin and body dehydrated. Our skin is incredibly dynamic, reacting to the heat in sometimes unpredictable ways. Pores may seem larger, and oil production tends to spike. It’s essential to note that all skin types, even oily ones, can suffer from dehydration. When oily skin lacks moisture, it compensates by producing more oil, potentially causing breakouts. This shift in skin behaviour emphasises the need to adapt our skincare routines for a radiant summer glow-up”

Here are some tips for glowing summer skin from the Granny Mouse Team:

· Lighter moisturisers can help prevent clogged pores and
provide hydration without making the skin feel heavy or greasy.

· Sun damage is a major factor that can reduce your skin’s
natural glow. It can cause pigmentation, fine lines, and even deeper
wrinkles. A sunscreen with high SPF provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. Ensure you apply it even on cloudy days or when indoors, as UV rays can penetrate windows. Future you will be thankful.

· Wear lightweight, long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats,
and sunglasses to shield your skin from UV rays. Opt for
loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing to stay cool and protect your
skin. Some fabrics are rated with an ultraviolet protection factor
(UPF). The higher the rating, the greater the protection from
sunlight.

· Avoid tanning beds and sunlamps. These are just as damaging
as natural sunlight.

· Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, which can
give your skin a dull appearance. However, it’s essential to choose a
gentle exfoliator and not over-exfoliate, as this can damage the skin
barrier. Go for products with natural exfoliants or use a soft
cleansing brush for this purpose.

· Drinking sufficient water is crucial for overall health, and
the skin is no exception. Hydrated skin appears plumper, fresher, and has a natural glow. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day, and remember that certain fruits and vegetables, like cucumbers and watermelon, can also contribute to your hydration levels.

· Antioxidants fight free radicals, which are unstable
molecules that can damage skin cells. Foods rich in antioxidants, such as berries, dark chocolate, nuts, spinach, and artichokes, can promote skin health and give it a brighter appearance.

· Never underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep!
During sleep, your skin undergoes repair and regeneration. Lack of
sleep can lead to dark circles, puffy eyes, and a dull complexion.

Remember, glowing skin is a reflection of overall health and
well-being. Incorporating these tips into your lifestyle and skincare
routine can make a significant difference in how your skin looks and
feels.
