“I worked with Marimba Records, the piano producers who produced the viral hit song “Obani Lababantu” by the late star Gee Six Five; she was actually meant to feature on this song. My upcoming album ‘Rose out of concrete’ is dedicated to her. She sadly passed on right before she was due to collaborate with me on this new single.”
Growing up in Sokoto State in Nigeria, Svmrogod whose birth name is Momodu-Kassimu Momodu says the song was largely inspired by his upbringing, and the term ‘Ajinomoto’ reminds him of a chinese seasoning his mother often used when preparing food.
“I was born in Sokoto State Nigeria in the beginning of the 1988-1989 religious crisis and my childhood memory is very different from most people. My mother would tell us of hiding in a mosque for days to save our lives. This is how I grew up, and it has influenced everything about my life till today including my music. I thank God every day for that perspective of life. It made me more compassionate and grateful for every day on earth.”
Svmrogod’s musical inspirations include the iconic Fela Kuti, 2Baba, The Weekend, Wiz kid, Lil Wayne, Kwesta, Rick Ross, R. Kelly, Riky Rick, Beyoncé, DJ Khalid, Angélique Kidjo and Craig David.
Kicking off the 2021 year on a positive note, the star promises more music and an upcoming album.
“I have lots more good music coming! My next single ‘Gently’ taken from my upcoming album ‘Rose Out Of Concrete’ drops in March and I can’t wait to release it. I hope my fans will love it.”
