TASHAS ADDS [MORE] NEW DISHES TO ‘INSPIRED BY’ MENUS
Just in time for Summer, tashas adds an array of fresh, zesty dishes to ‘Inspired by’ menus across SA
A range of new fresh, handcrafted dishes have been added to the seven tashas Inspired Menus. Brooklyn, Canal Walk, Constantia, Gateway, Mall of Africa, Morningside and Nicolway customers can now all experience more vegetarian options, delicious new desserts, and plenty of luxe salads.
“We continue to see a preference among our customers to healthier eating, vegetarian options or a flexitarian approach to vegetarianism,” Natasha Sideris, Founder & CEO of Tashas Group explains. “We’ve also kept the option to add in protein – which provides even more choices.”
Each tashas store has two menus – the Classic Menu, available at every location, runs alongside each store’s ‘Inspired by’ Menu, which is particular to each specific location offering customers both the comfort of what they are used to and an opportunity to try something different.
So, what’s on offer…
· Brooklyn: this menu has had a nostalgic refresh with 13 new dishes all embodying familiar, wholesome heartiness with a twist on fresh light feels.
· Canal Walk: this art deco’s stores vibrant menu has been given six new dishes. A new salad or two and additional vegetarian options add to the homey, hearty feel.
· Constantia: the bustling winelands location has 12 new items bringing more of the Cape countryside to life. Expect caramelised French onion burger, light and bright vegetarian salads, as well as savoury cheese scones.
· Gateway: 10 new items designed for sharing have been introduced to create a bigger selection of burgers and sandwiches.
· Mall of Africa: five new items have been added to the menu at one of the newer tashas locations. More breakfast and meat options to meet customer demand.
· Morningside: an umami addition of five new dishes gives this menu a fresh, balanced and healthy kick.
· Nicolway: one of tashas’ busiest breakfast stores has a new selection of breakfast options – seven new dishes in total with added Mediterranean options.
As always, the new dishes embody the tashas philosophy of using the best ingredients and are made to order. Nothing is pre-made or pre-cut so that the taste, vibrancy and freshness of every ingredient is retained. “Our customers love the freshness and lightness of our menus, and so we’ve pushed even further in that direction,” says Sasha Basson, Head Chef & Back of House Training Manager for Tashas Group in South Africa.
In developing new dishes, Natasha, Sasha, Jill Okkers (Culinary Director for the Group) and the tashas team follow a rigorous research and testing process. Multiple dishes are prepped for consideration and shortlisting. From there, the top dishes are selected, perfected, and then listed on the menu. Training, done by Sasha in face-to-face sessions across the group, focusses on respecting ingredients and refining the team’s skills.
“Our tashas customers love us because when they visit, they can slow down and celebrate the handmade with us – even if that means waiting 20 minutes for a dish that is prepared with care,” Natasha adds. “. Even though some might consider it old-fashioned, we work hard to deliver a complete dining experience for our customers – from service and décor to food and drinks.”
