The KwaZulu Natal Film Commission participates at the IAFT2021 CANEX

The KwaZulu Natal Film Commission is currently participating at the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) at IATF2021 taking place from the 16th – 21 November 2021. Officially opened by President Cyril Ramaphosa, IAFT2021 CANEX promises to be the highlight of Africa’s creative and cultural calendar with hundreds of creatives gathering in Durban to exhibit, showcase, and network with government leaders, prominent investors and financiers, thought leaders and other creative sector practitioners.

More than simply a conference, over the course of the IATF2021, CANEX at IATF2021 is a unique showcase and celebration of Africa’s vibrant creative heart. CANEX at IATF2021 brings together the best and brightest of Africa’s creative sector through a substantial exhibition space, B2B B2G meeting opportunities, and a comprehensive programme. It is in this light that the KwaZulu Natal Film Commission is sharing an exhibition space with the National Film and Video Foundation and the Gauteng Film Commission to ensure that filmmakers have a home during the conference.

True to its objectives of To creating awareness of the KZNFC as the custodian of film in KZN, the KZNFC CEO and COO will form part of panel discussions taking place throughout the conference. These include the  African Film Policy Round Table and the Nigeria International Film Summit. Other activities include the showcasing of KZN films and KZN as a location, as well as hosting a Cocktail event that will serve as a session to open doors of partnerships and collaborations. The cocktail event precedes the showcasing of short documentaries through a “Short-Short-Short” theme  in partnership with Docubox from Kenya.   Short-Short-Short hosted as a partnership between KZN and Kenya with the aim of future collaborations, would require guests to dress in shorts, enjoy Africa short documentaries and a short drink.
