“This collaboration is truly iconic” – Pamela Mtanga reflects on being unveiled as the face of a landmark fashion collaboration

Must read

Following a successful 2023 in which she established herself as a force in the media space across fashion, beauty and TV, Pamela Mtanga has started the year off with a bang after she was recently unveiled as the face of a historic new collaboration between Wonder Bra and Mr Price.

In the week since the deal was announced, Pamela’s face has been plastered on billboards and in-store banners all across the country.

“This collaboration is truly iconic,” she explains. “On the one side, Wonderbra is a legacy brand that is well known for understanding the anatomy of women’s bodies in order to create quality products that fit so seamlessly. On the other side is Mr Price, a brand that sparked my love for fashion through their “something new everyday” slogan when I was an early teen. These brands coming together to create a collection with me as a fashion influencer, is quite a game changer.”

She went on to add, “With massive tulle gowns and corsets I wear every day in my line of work, nothing beats the comfort of your underwear because everything else I could be wearing might be more on the uncomfortable and impractical side. And let me tell you, good underwear makes you feel confident, comfortable and generally stress-free.”

Throughout her influencer journey, Pamela has often spoken about how brands should use influencers further than just one social media post because she believes that creating and growing with influencers has the potential to present incredible value on both sides. This new partnership is the culmination of years of impactful work across several brand partnerships.

“This moment in my career is quite affirming of all the hard, long, unpaid hours I’ve put in creating content (that no one asked me for by the way) placed me on the map. Now we reap the rewards and work on even bigger projects and partner with my dream brands!”

As a perfectionist, Pamela has often found herself nervous when shooting with brands because she has no creative control over their productions. “I don’t like surprises so I always prefer to use my own team,” she says. But this time around, on the day of the shoot she recalls letting her guard down and showing up as talent and not Pamela the influencer, the creative director, the wardrobe specialist, and the producer.

Fortunately, it turned out to be a great experience. “Shooting was such a pleasure and I couldn’t believe I was walking around so many people in underwear and yet it felt so comfortable and fun, which is the essence of the campaign.”

As for the rest of the year, Pamela says we can expect “elevation” and for her to continue doing all the work she’s been doing, but on a bigger or long term scale. “I think growth is inevitable and having done this for almost 10 years now, the most important thing I look for every year is growing be it with the brands I work with or the kind of TV shows I do. If I pick up a new skill, even better!”
