TIAAN MASSYN IMPRESSES WITH SOULFUL NEW SINGLE
In addition to his striking good looks, charming personality, expertise as an optometrist, and sharp business acumen, Tiaan Massyn has also proven himself as a singer to be reckoned with.
Now, this versatile thirty-year-old, who already has a busy schedule as the current Mr. South Africa, is back in the spotlight with a brand-new single that is guaranteed to touch hearts.
GUNSTELING SPYT is an impressive pop ballad, written by Ernes Smit, that delves into the emotional complexity of an unhealthy romantic relationship. It paints a picture of the internal struggle between love and self-respect, and the often-painful journey towards healing and moving on.
“Relationships that fall apart can leave lasting scars. The song was born from the pain and disruption we have all experienced when something like this happens to us,” he explains about the meaning behind the single. “It’s a ballad with raw and honest lyrics, reflecting a scenario where you find yourself in a love relationship that, despite being unhealthy, is as hard to break as an addiction. I think many people will relate to it because I believe most of us have been in similar situations where we had to learn, heal, and move on.”
A music video, which perfectly captures the message of this emotional release, is now also available.
It was filmed by Winter Trail Pictures’ Zander de Beer and features the Atterbury Theatre in Lynnwood as well as a house where two lovers built a life together.
The video tells the story of a woman coming to terms with the end of a once-promising relationship, as she packs up her life and says goodbye to a shared future.
“There is a lot of loss at the end of a relationship. A life was built together, and the footage illustrates how in scenarios like these you have to pack up, say goodbye, heal, and start over,” he says.

GUNSTELING SPYT is the singer’s third single, following in the footsteps of Die son kom op and The Crossing – his rendition of the Johnny Clegg classic, which he used as part of his Mr. South Africa campaign. Both songs were well received by the public and received airtime on several major radio stations.
When he’s not singing, he works as a full-time optometrist at his practices in Centurion and the Western Cape and is also completing his reign as Mr. South Africa.
Although he personally enjoys more serious music, he is planning om celebrating the summer with a catchy new dance song, which is the project he will be taking on next.
Tiaan’s soulful rendition of GUNSTELING SPYT confirms his ability to touch hearts with his music – just like he strives to make a difference in the lives of the people he encounters on a daily basis.
“I hope this song will also bring comfort and encouragement to anyone who is at the end of a relationship and has a lot of pain to process,” he concludes.
