Ladies, have you ever experienced that feeling of gloom when you go shopping and you can’t seem to find an outfit that flatter’s your curvaceous body?
It would not be surprising to find out that many African women have been through this before. To such women, those days of frustration and quietly envying fellow shoppers with slimmer hips are over.
Curvaceous Lifestyle SA (South Africa) presents the much anticipated Curvaceous Africa Fashion Show.
As we get ready for the sensational showpiece, Jozigist conversed with the Curvaceous Africa Fashion show creator and the C Square models founder, Richard Femi Jegede who shared how this extra ordinary series was birthed. This is what he had to say:
“The brand was started last year – It was inspired by research I did a while back on women at a shopping mall. I discovered at the end of my research that so many curvaceous women struggle with finding even a pair of jeans that fit them perfectly. They complain that it (the jeans) is sometimes too tight or lose in some areas. These conversations made me decide that it was time I did something about this.”
With the celebration of women’s month in full swing, the Curvaceous Fashion show series pays homage to voluptuous women who epitomize the beauty of an African queen.
The September 6th event promises to be an unforgettable one as your favourite local musical talents prepare to grace the stage and gorgeous models show case exquisite pieces by 10 South African designers.
International dress makers from Ghana and Australia will also be involved in the show. It doesn’t end there! Guests will also be given an opportunity to purchase some of the garments and make orders to the designers during the breaks and after the show as well.
The hosts for the night, actor Hlomla Dandala and Metro FM dj Mariam Nyako-Lartey will surely brighten up the Empire Hotel venue with their jokes and comments. In a very intimate sit down with Mariam Nyako-Lartey, JoziGist asked the PRTV presenters some personal questions about what this show symbolized to her.
”I use to be a size 38 bordering on 40. I didn’t feel attractive enough. This was an issue I placed upon myself because society puts pressure on women that being skinny is sexy,” she disclosed.” This is why this show resonates with me. It is a night that will remind women to embrace and love who they are no matter what size they are. It is a night that will make women fall in love with themselves again” she solemnly said.
“I am looking forward to be blown away by this prestigious event. The planning, the organization, the designers and the line-up of the celebrities likely to attend the event makes this a show you need to see for yourself” Good morning Africa presenter, Derek Nyasulu advised JoziGist. (Little did he know that he was preaching to the converted).
From the talk around town about the 2014 Curvaceous Africa Fashion spectacle – buying a ticket is definitely a worthy investment.
