Sky-watchers around the world were treated as the shadow of earth casts a reddish glow on the moon, the result of rare combination of an eclipse with the closest full moon of the year.
Total eclipse of the moon occurred at the early hours of September 28th, 2015. It happens to be the closest Supermoon of 2015. This September full moon is also called a Blood Moon,A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon Passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle.
It has been more than 30 years since a supermoon combined with a lunar eclipse, the next total lunar eclipse will not be until 2018 while the next supermoon-lunar eclipse combination will not happen until 2033.
