Unreal Win for KwaMashu Cricket Club
Cricket talent shines at The Unlimited African Warriors U13 Tournament at Kingsmead

Durban, South Africa – KwaMashu Cricket Club were crowned champions of The Unlimited African Warriors U13 Cricket Tournament this past weekend at Kingsmead in Durban. The final was a thrilling encounter, full of tension and drama, with all the intensity of a professional match. In a closely fought contest against the hosts, African Warriors, both teams kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Dylan Kidgell of African Warriors and Luyanda Nzuza of KwaMashu CC were deservedly named joint Men of the Match for their outstanding performances in the final to win the match for their respective teams. Kidgell’s poise under pressure and all-round contributions also saw him walk away with the coveted Player of the Tournament title.

With so many youngsters showing the skill and temperament to advance their game during the tournament, all eyes are now on the upcoming KZN Primary Schools Cricket Trials in September. And, to further support their development, Linda Zondi, former Proteas Convenor of Selectors and African Warriors Director of Cricket has committed to hosting a development camp during the July school holidays to ensure these young players are well-prepared.

Speaking on behalf of The Unlimited after the tournament, CEO Andrew Wood said: “We believe in unlocking potential and creating opportunities for young people to grow, both on and off the field. Seeing each of you giving your all, and showing resilience, sportsmanship, and dedication, reinforces exactly why we are so proud to support this tournament. Whether you leave with a trophy or not, you’ve gained experience that will shape you, not only in cricket but in life. Keep pushing your limits, keep learning, and most importantly, keep enjoying the game.”

When commenting on why they chose to back this tournament as title sponsor, Wood explained that The Unlimited’s purpose has always been to shift lives – whether by providing South African families with unbeatable value or by creating platforms for young cricketers to showcase their talent. It’s about opening doors and giving everyday South Africans a real chance to unlimit their lives.

The tournament itself was more than just a celebration of cricketing excellence; it was a powerful reminder of the crucial roles played by coaches, parents, umpires, and funders in nurturing future champions. As the dust settles, one thing is certain: the future of cricket in KwaZulu-Natal is in safe and capable hands, with a promising new generation ready to carry the game forward.
