2019 marks the 10th anniversary of Nelson Mandela Day which inspires everyone to reflect on this great man’s life and further his incredible legacy.

Active citizens from all walks of life can come together to help eradicate poverty and reach out to those in need.

uShaka Marine World, which is celebrating its 15th year as a tourism icon along Durban’s Golden Mile, is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity South Africa to help address one of the greatest needs in this country – putting roofs over the heads of the needy. Employees from every department within uShaka Marine World – from executives to general staff – will be rolling up their sleeves and volunteering their precious time to help to build homes in Umbumbulu, in the eMphusheni district between Monday July 15 and Friday, July 19, 2019.

On the afternoon of Thursday, July 18th there was an exciting handover of meals from the uShaka Food and Beverage Department and appliances to all 9 deserving families .

For many years, Habitat for Humanity South Africa, has built homes for families in underprivileged communities. This particular project saw the completion of a total of nine homes with all the brick laying, mixing of cement and bagging of walls managed by a team of qualified builders. This particular project will continue until a total of 700 homes are completed in South Africa.

On Friday, July 19th, uShaka Marine World’s executive team will also take part in a key handover ceremony and welcome Mr Mandlekosi Ngobo, into his new home.
