VELVETBLOHM’S DEBUT ALBUM IS A MUST-HAVE FOR FANS

Jan Blohm and Ryno Velvet have shown over the past few months what can be achieved when two great talents in the music industry decide to collaborate.

Their joint effort, Velvetblohm, has made quite the impression since its launch earlier this year and their first two singles were very well received.

To make things even more interesting, the pair has just released their debut album and fans are ecstatic!

TOE ROEP EK JOU NAAM is a contemporary Afrikaans rock album, written and composed by the artists themselves, and can be described as a “honest summary of emotions, exitance, understanding and vulnerability…” or at least for this chapter in their lives.

Volgens Velvet het hulle die titelsnit as naam gekies vir die album, omdat hulle graag die skryfproses en die geleentheid om saam te werk wou eer.

“Our main inspiration has been the opportunity of working together. After the decision was made to release an album together, we had to keep our heads down and get to work. We were at the right time and place to produce an album with Tertius Human,” he shares.

TOE ROEP EK JOU NAAM consists of 11 top-notch tracks that were carefully selected to speak to listeners’ hearts. It boasts several new songs, including Tussen Die Lyne and Kaap that were playlisted on all major radio stations, as well as remakes of some of their biggest hits.

“It is impossible to choose a favourite song on the album. It was amazing to see each track grow and develop and we love all of them. We couldn’t have been prouder of the final product. A lot of talented people collaborated on the album, and it is a privilege to showcase the work of musicians like Floors Oosthuizen, Vinnie Henrico and Denny Lalouette,” they explain.

Although Blohm and Velvet toured together in 2006 and 2009, they only came up with the idea of launching an official Velvetblohm act at the end of 2021. With the help of Vonk Musiek’s Kobie Koen, what started out as a unique way of sharing their biggest hits with fans grew into an opportunity to record and release new material.

The duo looks forward to sharing more of their music with fans and is going on tour in December.

When Jan is not on stage, he enjoys painting and sculpting. He is also the owner of Jan Blohm Art Gallery and Blohmhuis Theatre, situated in Strand.

When he is not singing, Ryno is also a talented graphic designer, photographer and producer.

TOE ROEP EK JOU NAAM builds on the successful foundation established by these versatile men and makes you look forward to what they have planned for the future.

“We want our music to appeal to listeners. This album is for anyone who likes our songs or want to discover something that is out of the box. We have a good idea of what our music means to fans and wanted to reward their support by delivering an album that they would enjoy,” the pair concludes.
