Police in Pretoria are still searching for five gunmen following two robberies around the The Reeds area in Centurion on Sunday morning.
The first robbery occurred at a Total garage at Rooihuiskraal and the other one took place fifteen minutes later at an Engen garage at Olievenhoutbosch.
The two areas are in close proximity.
Captain Agnes Huma of Wierdabrug Police Station said that no arrests have been made and they are still searching for the suspects.
“We are still looking for the white Volvo. We have the registration number but cannot confirm that the car was stolen,” said Captain Huma.
Although the police could not verify whether the two incidents were connected, they were able to state that both robberies were conducted by five men who were driving a White 540 Volvo with false registration.
Through CCTV camera footage and evidence from witnesses Police also discovered that the suspects used the same method in both robberies.
In both cases suspects entered the garages and instructed the staff to go to the toilet.
“They (staff) heard a loud bang and later they found out that the till Machine and the safe were damaged and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.”
“No shots were fired and there were no injuries,” said Captain Huma.
The police have urged members of the public who can provide any helpful information to come forward.
