Well-known makeup artist Louise Volschenk shares her secrets to success

Louise Volschenk, a well-known makeup artist in South Africa who has worked with many local and international celebrities, is now sharing her secrets to success with others.

Volschenk, who has been doing makeup for over 20 years, started Halouw Makeup Academy in 2013 with the goal of providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the beauty industry.

“I’ve seen firsthand how makeup can change someone’s life,” said Volschenk.

“It can give people the confidence they need to achieve their goals and help them feel their best selves. I want to share my passion for makeup with others and help them to reach their full potential.”

Halouw Makeup Academy offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers all aspects of makeup artistry, from basic techniques to advanced special effects. Students also have the opportunity to work with experienced makeup artists on real-world projects.

“We want our students to be prepared for the challenges of the beauty industry,” said Volschenk.

“That’s why we focus on providing them with practical training and mentorship. We want them to be able to hit the ground running when they graduate.”

Volschenk is passionate about helping others to succeed, and she is confident that Halouw Makeup Academy will provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their goals.

“I’m excited to share my secrets to success with others and to empower people,” said Volschenk.

“I know that anyone can achieve their dreams with hard work and dedication.”

Volschenk has always been fascinated by makeup. She remembers when she was a little girl, her mom would drop her off at school without makeup, and she would look tired and old.

Volschenk and her brother would be so embarrassed that they would ask their mom to drop them off at the far end of the school so no one would see her.

But in the afternoon, when her mom would pick them up, she would be transformed. She would have makeup that made her look confident and beautiful.

“When she picked us up in the afternoon, she had suddenly transformed into a superwoman, with confidence and style, and she just looked so amazing.

“I would pretend not to see her, so she would have to get out of her car and fetch me inside so everyone could see my beautiful mother. So, I knew since I was little what power makeup could hold for any woman.”

Volschenk was amazed by the power of makeup and knew that she wanted to learn how to do it herself.

Volschenk started doing makeup for her friends and family in high school.

She quickly realized that she had a natural talent for it and decided to make it her career. She went on to study makeup artistry, and she eventually started her makeup academy.

Volschenk’s journey to success has not been easy. She faced many challenges along the way, including the death of her parents.

“I started working on the Halouw Professional makeup range in 2000 during lockdown when I realised how limited we as makeup artists and as a makeup school were, and the product’s sales were what carried us through.

“I also spoke to so many salon owners who said that without the sales for products in their salons, they would not have made it during the lockdown.

“So, I started to develop a range that made me feel like me! Very girly and cute but with exceptional quality and affordability.

“When we were finally ready to launch in 2021, my mom’s death happened, so I dedicated so many of our products to her. Our best seller’s red lipstick is named after her.

“I’m just so sad that she couldn’t see all my ideas and plans come to life.”

Despite the challenges, Volschenk never gave up on her dreams.

“I believe anything is possible if you set your mind to it,” said Volschenk.

“I’ve faced many challenges in my life, but I’ve always found a way to overcome them. I’m not afraid to work hard and always willing to learn new things. I believe that’s what has made me successful.”

Volschenk is now the mother of two boys. She says being a mom is the most rewarding thing she’s ever done.

The name Halouw is a combination of the word “halo” and Volschenk’s maiden name, Louw. The halo is a symbol of holiness, and Volschenk wanted her company name to reflect her appreciation for God’s gift of makeup artistry.

“I believe that makeup can be used to transform people, both physically and emotionally,” said Volschenk. “It can help people feel more confident and beautiful and even help them achieve their goals. I want Halouw to be a company that empowers people to use makeup to reach their full potential.”

She is excited to see what the future holds for Halouw. Volschenk plans to continue to grow the company and to help more people learn about the power of makeup.

“I believe that Halouw has the potential to change the world,” said Volschenk. “I want to use this company to empower people and help them achieve their dreams. I believe that makeup can be a force for good in the world, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
