Westcon-Comstor Heralds Era of Next-Gen SOC with Local Availability of Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSIAM

Johannesburg, South Africa, 26 October 2022: Westcon-Comstor Sub-Saharan Africa, a leading global distributor, is delighted to announce the general local availability of vendor partner Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM. The solution delivers an autonomous security operations platform that forms the premise of a modern secure operations centre (SOC) while leveraging the power of data, analytics and automation in enterprise and cloud security operations.

The SOC remains the central hub of security operations for organisations. Still, to date, disparate data sources, siloed security solutions, and an overwhelming volume of alerts is placing immense pressure on security personnel. Further, the effectiveness of the SOC is under threat as teams are faced with false positives, lack of visibility of parts of a business, no oversight of cloud environments and little to no ROI in the spiralling number of security tools being used with the SOC.

“For the SOC to deliver on its promise of effective security operations, we need to change our approach as a security industry regarding how it is delivered. This is exactly what Cortex XSIAM gives our partners the power to do within their client’s SOC,” said David Odayar-Business Practice Lead Cyber Security & Next Generation Solutions, Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa. “Cortex XSIAM focuses on results, efficiency, and productivity by establishing an autonomous SOC that can respond to threats in significantly less time than previously. And it does this using AI and automation.”

According to Westcon-Comstor, Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM enables clients to leverage the benefits of intelligent data integration, machine learning-based threat models, extensive automation, and proactive analysis. When brought together, these allow the SOC to significantly shrink the attack surface by providing a more holistic oversight of the IT environment.

Additional and immediate benefits of Cortex XSIAM is visibility, fewer incidents, reduced false positives and reduced mean time to response. This ensures that security personnel in an organisational SOC can resolve and address threats quickly and efficiently, minimise risk and track security metrics. XSIAM operates across cloud and enterprise security operations, delivering on the promise of end-to-end management of threats, and collects and integrates cloud telemetry unique to cloud-native systems.

“This is not just a way to make your SOC more effective. It is a means to make it more inclusive across the entire organisation, extending to the cloud. What XSIAM will provide our partners with is a solution that enables their customers to combine multiple security capabilities into one single unified ecosystem,” said Odayar.

Cortex XSIAM is immediately available to Westcon-Comstor partners and their customers and offers full support across multiple cloud locations to comply with local regulations.
