Within the last decade, the growth of KYOCERA copiers and MFP printers has been nothing short of impressive, despite the fierce competition in the market.

In the first six months of 2011, InfoSource revealed a growing trend in the company’s market share across the multifunctional (MFP), colour MFP and laser printer segments for business use categories. This made the company the fastest growing office automation brand in South Africa.

In the most recent market report inside the first half of 2018, KYOCERA moved to the second position in the copier and multifunction market. The company recorded a 16.3% market share for the period.

Even though the rest of the South African copier and MFP market suffered a downturn of 4.5% of unit sales, KYOCERA copier and MFPs were resilient against all odds – around 30.8% growth year-on-year compared to the same period in the previous year.

“Our sales records of KYOCERA copiers and MFPs in the last couple of years is testament to this incredible growing trend. KYOCERA’s product offering and advanced technology capabilities always make for a unique selling point,” KDS Direct (KYOCERA Dealership) Marketing Manager, Nadine Girona, said in response to the news.

Why do KYOCERA copier and MFP printers continue to see impressive growth patterns in spite of the negative figures recorded by the entire South African copier and MFP market?

KYOCERA delivers products and solutions that deals with the real issues businesses need answers to. One of such major issues is the cost of printing, according to InfoSource.

Printing costs present a major headache to companies of all sizes. For the most part, many companies have failed to figure out an effective way to manage the cost of printing within their organisations.

KYOCERA MFP printers are well known globally for their cost effectiveness. The company has spent over 25 years in research and development to continuously address the cost factor of printing, as well as the eco-friendliness aspect, through its ECOSYS technology.

The incorporation of ECOSYS technology into all KYOCERA MFP printers helps to eliminate unnecessary printing and running costs.

KYOCERA colour and b/w Multifunction Printers (MFPs) offer one of the lowest printing costs within the same category as its competitors. The manufacturing process uses long life consumables and as a result makes printers one of the lowest in terms of costs per print.

As we know, the operating costs of traditional cartridge-based printers can easily exceed many times the original purchase price during the lifespan of the product. KYOCERA MFP toners are capable of printing between 2,500 to 70,000 pages.

All users have to do is to replace toner containers until the machines reach these printing volumes.

The company’s ability to address a major pain point for businesses (i.e. printing costs) has seen KYOCERA printers in general and MFPs in particular become the preferred choice of note for most of its customers.

It is therefore not surprising that units of shipments continue to grow despite the general slow growth in the South African market.
