Voodoo Doll

The new single from premier South African rock band WONDERboom, “Voodoo Doll” takes the award winning quartet into a harder realm which fans have been calling for. Exploring a darker underside, the band’s new single is a departure from it’s well known rock roots. The song is an infectious 8th note pathology expertly framed by jagged guitars, and frontman Cito’s low-ball narrative. Mixed, engineered, and co-produced by Matthew Fink, “Voodoo Doll” rewards with a sonic tapestry of menacing energy.

“Voodoo Doll is the song Martin and I always wanted to write. It’s the pure exhilaration of composing a goth-electro dance song without inhibitions. Working from a dark groove and bassline, we had so much fun with the imagery in the lyric and jagged guitars. One of the last true alternative nightclubs in Jozi (that Ashton Nyte founded), Red Room recently closed – but their dancefloor lives on! Voodoo Doll reminds me of the Red Room dancefloor.”

WONDERboom have released a total of 9 albums over the years with their 10th album set for release in 2020 through leading indie label, Just Music. They have headlined many major South African festivals and have been nominated for 5 ‘Best Rock Album’ awards in the South African Music Awards. They also won the South African leg of the 2004 Global Battle of the Bands & came SECOND WORLDWIDE at the finals in the London Astoria!

A major highlight for the band is the latest news of getting the sole support slot for Guns ‘N Roses, at the South African leg of their “Not In This Lifetime” tour, 29 November 2018. A dream come true for WONDERboom

After being in the game for a remarkable 23 years, the bands energy, passion and love for music has only gotten stronger and can be experienced on and off the stage.

WONDERboom kickstart their “Voodoo Doll” tour this December. Be sure to catch them live at one of these fine venues:
