Living in Bramley, Gauteng, and fresh from graduating with a degree in Photography, she found herself at a crossroads. Despite her passion for photography, she struggled to convert that enthusiasm into career opportunities. The months of unanswered job applications left her feeling discouraged and uncertain about her future in the industry.

Joining the YES programme, sponsored by Pizza Hut and hosted by Tilt Culture, marked a pivotal moment in Tshegofatso’s career. Through comprehensive training in photography, videography, illustration, and graphics, Tshegofatso honed her craft and built a robust portfolio. The programme provided a supportive environment and valuable mentorship, allowing her to gain practical experience and connect with industry professionals. This exposure led to numerous projects and opportunities, enabling her to establish a solid network.
Since completing the YES programme, Tshegofatso has continued to build her career as a freelance photographer and content creator under her company, Tshegosview. She has embraced the challenges of new skills, particularly in videography and video editing, and has found her footing despite initial difficulties. Her passion for the craft has driven her to overcome obstacles and maintain momentum.
Tshegofatso’s growth is evident in her achievements. She recently secured her first corporate gig with Demographica, which exceeded her expectations and boosted her confidence. Additionally, she participated in an exhibition hosted by both Sanlam and YES, where she was honoured with a second prize for her photograph titled “Love.” These milestones have affirmed her belief in her capabilities and fuelled her ambition for future projects.
Now at 23, Tshegofatso’s journey has been marked by a commitment to learning and growth, both creatively and in business. She has gained insights into the fundamentals of running a company and the importance of registering her business. Tshegofatso remains deeply passionate about photography and videography, viewing them as integral to her identity.
