ZEHAN VENTER SINGS ABOUT A BROKEN HEART IN EMOTIONAL DEBUT SINGLE
Navigating the complexities of love can be challenging, especially when the person of your dreams does not share the same sentiments. A life lesson that inspired the exciting new upcoming artist, Zehan Venter’s, debut single.
WAS IT EVEN SOMETHING is an emotional pop song penned by Chantel Van Zyl, recounting the story of a guy who falls in love with a special friend with whom he spends time. However, as she fails to respond to his messages, he comes to the painful realization that she has moved on and does not reciprocate his love.
“I chose this song because I can relate to it,” explains the 13-year-old. “I think it’s relevant in a time where we’re constantly on our phones, sending messages, and reflecting memories… and sometimes someone can shut you out so easily on social platforms, making you wonder WAS IT EVEN SOMETHING?”
Coolerbox Studios’ Tertius Human produced the track, while Wian van der Walt headed up the production of the music video.
Just like the song, this video tells a captivating story set in various locations in Johannesburg, including Rietvlei, Capello Boksburg, and Kempton Diner.

Zehan, currently residing in Boksburg, has recently started high school and has been passionate about music and entertaining people since childhood.
This talented young artist started with formal vocal training at the age of five, flourishing under the guidance of vocal coaches such as Chantel Van Zyl and Corlea Botha.
Over the years, Zehan has participated in various competitions, including Pacisa, Conspirito, My Kids’ Rock, and Kids with Talent SA 2022, where he emerged as the overall winner. He has also earned five gold and two silver medals for South Africa at the World Championships of Performing Arts.
In addition to his singing talent, Zehan has made appearances on the popular show 7de Laan and has been featured twice on Martin Bester’s radio show.
When not busy entertaining or writing songs, he enjoys cooking, dancing, and spending time with friends and family.
The artist enjoys a wide variety om music and has great admiration for musicians like Lana Del Ray, Stephen Sanches, Bruno Mars, Noah Kehan, Demi Lee Moore, and Brendan Peyper.
His plans for 2024 include excelling in school, honing his vocal abilities, writing new songs, and taking the local music industry by storm.
