David Beckham may have retired from professional soccer more than a year ago but it hasn’t affected his heartthrob status.

The 39-year-old former footballer flexed some of that muscly appeal on Thursday as he hit the beach in Los Angeles with his sons Brooklyn, 15, and Romeo, 11, and a bunch of their friends.

Beckham appeared as lean and toned as he once did on the playing field, his sculpted arms, chest and abs showing firm through their myriad of tattoos.

Beckham appeared to have forgotten the suncscreen, with a red tinge to his skin on the hot day.

But the soccer champ didn’t seem too upset about it as he bare-footed it back to the car with the teenage brood.

He was the patient dad too as his boys cleaned up before jumping in the car.

His designer wife Victoria, 40, was nowhere to be seen, suggesting that the former Spice Girl decided to stay away from the sandy beaches where temperatures were still a humid 80-something degrees Fahrenheit.

The Beckhams are now based in London but are spending the summer in Los Angeles while their children are on break from school.

The family – which also includes nine-year-old son Cruz and two-year-old daughter Harper – has been spending lots of quality time together.

Victoria recently shared that she and David have been hitting up SoulCycle for morning workouts.

On Monday, David was spotted taking his Harley-Davidson motorcycle out for a spin and on Tuesday he tooled around Beverly Hills in a brand-new black 2015 Cadillac Escalade.

The English footballer quit the sport after a final game on May 18, 2013, ending a 20-year career during which he played for England’s national team, Manchester United, Preston North End, Real Madrid, Milan, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain.

Beckham hasn’t lacked in things to do after launched a 10-piece capsule menswear range of biker jackets and clothing with Belstaff in June.

As he told WWD: ‘My moto capsule collection is a reflection of what I wear day to day when I’m biking or relaxing. I buy a lot of vintage pieces and my collection reflects that feel.’
